Krishna

Krishnais a major deity in Hinduism, worshipped across many traditions. He is the eighth avatar of Vishnu and is considered the Supreme Being in his own right. Descriptions of Krishna often emphasize his dark or blue complexion — his name literally means "dark" or "dark blue".

He is depicted wearing a peacock feather in his crown and playing the bansuri (bamboo flute), often in his characteristic Tribhanga (three-bend) posture — standing with one leg bent in front of the other. He is usually surrounded by cows (as a cowherd, Govinda) and gopis (milkmaids).

Krishna is the central figure of the Mahabharata and the speaker of the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most profound spiritual texts in human history. Dr. Sahu has rendered him in both traditional Pattachitra style and expressive oil paintings.
